SoundStation VTX 1000 Software Version 1.4 Available Now - Product Bulletin #228

The latest revision of SoundStation VTX 1000 software has been posted on the download section of the PRC. Enhancements include:

  • Integration with Polycom Global Management System™ - allows enterprise users with multiple SoundStation VTX 1000 installations to schedule and automatically upload software to all of their SoundStation VTX 1000 units

  • Integration with Polycom VSX 7000 and VSX 8000-series video conferencing systems (VSX unit must be at release 7.0 or higher)

  • Support for Narrowband to Wideband control - allows users to re-enter wideband mode after the SoundStation VTX 1000 drops to narrowband due to temporary line quality degradation

  • Maintenance improvements also include increased robustness in wideband detection, Polycom Vortex® mode operation, download process, password protection of the Audio Setup menus, and other minor updates

PLC Question of the week:
"Why do balls appear when dialing a call on the VSX (or on the ViewStations), and what do they mean?"

When you place a call, there are several "balls" or "spheres" that appear. Each of those balls represents 64 Kbps of bandwidth. But they mean much more than that. The list below provides more insight.

  • Grey = not connected
  • Blue = Ringing - the system is try to place a call
  • Yellow = The system at the other end has started to answer the call
  • Green = a 64 Kbps channel is connected
  • After the first channel is connected, then the other 64 Kbps connect, when all the channels are connected you see video and hear audios
  • IP Calls will only reveal one ball instead of one ball for each 64 Kbps of bandwidth

Country Groups Matrix and Country Availability Chart

Polycom has created two new tools to assist in selecting the correct product for the appropriate country. These are the Country Groups Matrix and Country Availability Matrix.

  • Country Groups Matrix is a country grouping framework that will ensure that all relevant country information is included in the Long Product Descriptions in the Price List. Previously we had a space limitation in the Long Product Descriptions field and therefore in some cases applicable countries weren't included in the description thus making it incomplete. With this new tool all the various country groupings have been assigned a specific Country Group # which will be incorporated into the Long Product Descriptions of the next Price Lists.
  •
  •  Availability and Restrictions Matrix indicates if Polycom or its partners can ship a specific product into a specific country.
