Polycom attends Presidential Signing of Sweeping
Medicare Changes
The President of the United States recently signed into
law sweeping changes in Medicare. Polycom was present for the event,
attending the historic signing ceremony at Constitution Hall in
Washington DC as VIP guests of Newt Gingrich and the Center for Health
Transformation.
While prescription drugs and health care savings
accounts were in the headlines, telemedicine was advanced in the Bill as
well. Language was included to review expanding Medicare reimbursement
for using telemedicine, specifically in physician encounter in nursing
homes and skilled nursing facilities.
Polycom actively supports telemedicine legislative and
regulatory advocacy issues that will impact market growth. This is
accomplished primarily through our memberships in and support of
organizations such as the Center for Health Transformation (CHT), the
Center for Telemedicine Law (CTL) and American Telemedicine Association
(ATA) and the Steering Committee on Telehealth and Healthcare
Informatics.
