Any broadcast streaming system requires good upload speed and quality -

. . . here's the link to recommended cable triple play services - high speed IP, TV and phone: http://sites.bridgevine.com/cr_cc/?agentid=1pcn

384K would be a minimum upload speed for this type of application. Some legacy videoconferencing systems have ISDN capability only.  Internet access to the room will have to be added for streaming from the IP or ISDN based systems.

2. the appropriate hardware & software setup in your conference room.

The VSS-1 system  adds streaming media capabilities to any NTSC based camera systems such as the Sony EVI-D30, EVI-D70 or EVI-D100 . . .or any camcorder with s-Video/RCA video. . . or to your existing videoconferencing system of any type, including Polycom, Sony, Tandberg, LifeSize and most other similar videoconferencing system.

It allows you to use your existing cameras and audio equipment to link to other users via the free Skype audio and videoconferencing network

Encoder: The VSS system includes a dedicated  PC encoder with the hardware and software pre-configured to make setup and operation of system as easy as possible.

Local ISP Service for Small Groups (up to 50 viewers): The VSS system has an optional link to an ISP service that  includes 1,500 GB of online file storage for saved video streams, and 15,000 GB of transfer bandwidth per month.

(Bandwidth usage is generally 300k per viewer over the internet  . . . and it can be up to 2 MB per minute per person depending on the encoding. For typical video streaming at 300K bandwidth usage, 8 hours of streaming is 1 GB approx).

This setup gives you the high quality Internet Service Provider you need for serving and storing the video & audio on the web. This local ISP provides your own account and control. It does require a credit card to cover any excess charges for bandwidth, storage etc.

The local ISP also gives many other optional features. . . . but of course you can use your own ISP, rather than this optional ISP.

Global ISP Service for Unlimited Broadcasts: We also offer optional link to higher capacity broadcast sessions - accommodating hundreds or thousands of people at the same time. This account can be added for extra costs.

Click here to request a bandwidth and cost calculator spreadsheet to help you calculate projected costs for different audience sizes and hours of usage per month.

The VSS system can record and broadcast high quality video at a resolution of 720 by 480 pixels at 30 frames per second. Prior versions had a maximum resolutions of 320 by 240 pixels at 30 frames per second.
