Cisco TANDBERG - Latest Manufacturer & Industry News

1 PC Network is now part of a very select group that has made the transition to a partnership with Cisco Systems for the ATP (Advanced Technology Program) for Video Telepresence.

The acquisition of TANDBERG by Cisco Systems is a strategic move to secure TelePresence applications in the market and we are excited about what this means for our business. Now that the Cisco Systems acquisition of TANDBERG is completed, it is time to move to our next phase. All expectations are that the “perfect storm” of awareness, capability, affordability and functionality of our TelePresence solutions will cause them to achieve a mass market appeal.  The resulting market growth will provide tremendous opportunities for those partners who are properly positioned to add value in areas such as AV Integration, Network Systems Integration & Collaboration.

Brand is important.  It defines what we do and what we stand for as an organization. It guides our choices, our actions and our communications and introduces our business to those who don’t yet know us, while also reassuring those who do.

The TANDBERG brand has been highly respected in the video market and among a large customer base since its inception in 1989, and has a history dating back to 1933.  It has set the bar for quality and interoperability.

As we look to accelerate growth, moving from the TANDBERG to the Cisco brand is a key next step that will help us reach new customers, present a unified portfolio and deliver the best possible customer experience.

What the Cisco Brand Means for Partners
On September 15, Interbrand released the 2010 study of the 100 Best Global Brands. Cisco maintained the 14th position with an increase in brand value of about 5 percent, or $1 billion (total brand value of $23.2 billion).  As a Cisco Partner, the opportunities to leverage this powerhouse brand to change the way people communicate and collaborate are immense.

As Cisco evolves to gain relevance in new market adjacencies and engage existing audiences, continuing to build on the Cisco brand strength will be crucial. The Cisco brand remains a strategic business asset, the company's largest or second-largest asset depending on Cisco's current cash position.

In 2006, Cisco launched the “Welcome to the human network” campaign positioning Cisco as the leader in changing how we work, live, play and learn. As the industry changes and the focus changes in our society, we want to drive to what is important and relevant in everyone’s lives today….. It’s not about being connected, but about being together.  It’s about richer, deeper, more authentic communications.

On September 23, 2010 Cisco launched a new corporate brand campaign, “Together we are the human network.” This campaign features the pervasive role of technology in all our lives and ways we can use technology to be better, and more human, highlighting video for deep, rich communications.  The campaign will include a refresh of Cisco.com, television spots on Oprah and ESPN in September and new imagery and graphics for Partners to leverage in your marketing efforts.

The Cisco TelePresence product line will be featured in some of the elements associated with this new campaign which will in turn provide more exposure for TelePresence to more people and further expand the market.  Learn more about the campaign today!

Next Steps for TANDBERG Brand
The Cisco team is now focused on transitioning the Cisco brand into a variety of former-TANDBERG portfolio products.  You may have seen interim Cisco branding on products at EBC open houses and at other customer focused events. All new TelePresence products introduced will now have the Cisco brand, and we will be rebranding high visibility products as follows:

  • Endpoints (EX90, T3, T1, E20, Profile series, C series) will ship with the Cisco logo on the bezels in Q2FY11, and will migrate to having the “Cisco” master brand in the product name (i.e., Cisco EX90).
  • Infrastructure products (TelePresence Server, Content Server, VCS, MCU, AMG, ISDN GW, MSE) will ship with the Cisco logo as manufacturing stock is replenished. Expect to see most rebranded infrastructure in Q2FY11. Infrastructure will also migrate to having the “Cisco” master brand in the product name (i.e., Cisco TelePresence Server).
  • Associated marketing materials and technical documentation will be rebranded at the same time as the products on the Cisco and legacy TANDBERG websites.
  • Software will be rebranded as appropriate to ensure a better customer experience.
