Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ's

How will I determine what circuit speed I need?

A general guideline to determining circuit speed is to allow at least 512 Kbps per videoconferencing endpoint. This minimum amount of bandwidth will allow videoconference rates of 384 Kbps, the typical rate used by most businesses. If you are looking for higher-quality videoconferencing, you can choose a higher speed offering. For example, choosing the 768 Kbps speed delivers 512 Kbps video rates, which are noticeably better than 384 Kbps rates. If there is more than one endpoint at a location, it may be possible to reduce the per-endpoint cost by using a single access. It is simply a matter of providing the bandwidth to operate the endpoints concurrently.

Does it work with desktop products, as well as conference-room systems?

EZnetIP works with any videoconferencing product that supports operation over H.323 (IP) networks. For example, both Polycom’s ViaVideo and iPower 900 Series are both excellent products that include all the software and easy-connect hardware you need to start Real Time Video Collaboration.

Does the EZnetIP service allow you to call users not on the network?

Yes. With EZnetIP, you are able to connect with other EZnetIP users, as well as with H.323 and ISDN videoconferencing users. And, our ISDN gateway charges are arguably the lowest in the industry.

Will you have to purchase bridging equipment or pay for multi-point calls?

No, you will have unlimited use for multi-point calls and won’t have to go through the hassle of scheduling every multi-point video call. For every five circuits that you purchase, you will be assigned a Virtual Conference Room (a.k.a. bridge port), which will enable them to meet with meeting participants any time that they want for as long as they want. Remember, UNLIMITED MULTI-POINT CALLING is included with the monthly rate, so you will have the freedom to meet with as many people as you need, as many times as is needed.

What kind of contract options are available, and do you provide SLA terms?

You can enter into an agreement for 1, 2, or 3 years. Additionally, we provide an unprecedented Service Level Agreement that guarantees the quality and reliability of your EZnetIP service.

What is the billing time frame and what can they expect to see on the bill?

You will receive a flat-rate, monthly bill for the term of the contract. The only variations on the bill will be if you used optional services, like web casting, outbound ISDN Gateway calling, etc.

Why would I choose EZnetIP rather than basic broadband Internet access?

The Internet is able to provide zero quality of service. This can result in dropped calls and poor quality call and users aren’t able to accomplish their objectives. The Internet is an unmonitored.. The EZnetIP service is supported by a Service Level Agreement that guarantees the quality and reliability that customers will receive during each and every video call.

What protocols does EZnetIP support?

EZnetIP is based on the TCP/IP standard and supports conferencing devices that are compliant with H.323 and T.120 standards supported by the ITU-T.

What network technology does EZnetIP use?

EZnetIP is able to work over a variety of network technology, which means that you will be able to propose this solution to virtually all of your customers. Network technologies utilized include, but are not limited to, SDSL, Frame Relay, T-1, T-3, Fiber, ATM, and LAN Emulation.

What if the number of systems requires more than the 1.5 Mbps of bandwidth?

Multi-megabit circuits are available and pricing can be provided upon request.

What is the maximum distance from the provider’s Central Office for SDSL?

Approximately 15,000 feet.

Why can’t we get an SDSL circuit?

The existing US telecom infrastructure is designed to place Central Office access to customers within a 5-mile service area. In order to provide the QoS necessary for videoconferencing, an EZnetIP SDSL circuit can only be provisioned up to 2.8 miles.

All of our locations have access to different network services – DSL, T-1, etc. Will this have an impact on whether or not we can utilize the EZnetIP service.

Regardless of the type of network being used by EZnetIP, the QoS is guaranteed by our Service Level Agreement and will be the same at all locations.

When we bring the circuit to our site, what wiring specifications need to be in place?

There is a 330-feet limit for Ethernet / CAT 5 cabling from the router to the videoconferencing endpoint. If the wiring exceeds this distance, the customer will need to purchase a repeater to extend the cabling.

Do I have a resource who can help put together a network drawing?

Yes. The EZnetIP support team will help you design a network drawing.

Does you need to get service from a service provider for a EZnetIP connection?

No. EZnetIP takes care of everything.
