The MGC25
An important
Conferencing Infrastructure
& Video Network MCU Product
In 2003, Polycom announced its important new
MGC-25 end-user multipoint system.
It originally came in ten versions with
MSRP list prices starting at
$22,000. This product
competes directly with bridges from RADVISION and
TANDBERG as well as voice
bridges. It sets a new price & performance
standard for the market. The versions can work as a
voice-only bridge; a unified bridge supporting
IP and ISDN and voice and video; an IP only bridge; a
single PRI gateway; a double-PRI gateway, and an IP
bridge.
Here's an example of the flexibility of the
MGC-25 Unified 24 version. It supports IP/ISDN/PSTN/VoIP
networks with a maximum of 24 ports in any of the
following combinations on the one installation:
Up to: 24 PSTN/64 Kbps -
(PSTN
is the public switched telephone network) or
12 ISDN @ 128 Kbps @ T1/E1 or 7-10 ISDN @ 384 Kbps @ T1/E1
or 3-5 ISDN @ 768 Kbps @ T1/E1 or 2 ISDN @ T1/E1
or 16 VoIP/64 Kbps - Voice over IP or 16 IP @ 128 Kbps
or 16 IP @ 384 Kbps or 8 IP @ 768 Kbps
or 4 IP @ T1/E1
Here's an example of the flexibility of the
MGC-25 IP 16+ version. It supports IP/ISDN/PSTN/VoIP
networks with a maximum of 24 ports in any of the
following combinations on the one installation:
Up to: 8 PSTN/64 Kbps
or 24 VoIP/64 Kbps or 24 IP @ 128 Kbps
or 16 IP @ 384 Kbps or 8 IP @ 768 Kbps
or 4 IP @ T1/E1
You can start with any
of the smaller system configurations and upgrade
to the MGC-25 Unified 24.
